We heard all about autumn winter fashion for 2017, back when it was summer and nobody cared! If you don’t remember, find our AW17 London Fashion Week Cheat Sheet here.
Now we’re looking forward to Halloween costumes and fireworks, we’re up for an update! Plus we’re starting to feel that familiar nip in the air, which means it’s time to revamp our knitwear and jumpers collection, because we will be wearing a LOT of it over the next few months.
So, here at Peacocks we’ve put together an edit of the latest knitwear trends for AW17, and some other key pieces to get you started with the summer-to-autumn transition. Read on for more!
Ruffles and Frills
Delicate embellishments in the form of frills, flute and trumpet hems have crossed the border from summer to autumn winter. We might not be able to wear our frilly camis and ruffled tops for a few months but luckily knitwear and jumpers are repping the waves this season.
Wearing your jeggings with this wine-coloured frilled jumper will revamp your casual wardrobe and make your look go from chill to thrill!
Now that trainers are the go-to footwear for the busy lady, check out these lace-ups to complete your combo – these AW17 must-haves are velvet AND embroidered. SO pretty.
Short Jumper Dresses
A favourite for the fashion-conscious when we move toward the cooler months, jumper dresses always pop up around this time of year. However, the AW17 catwalks showed us that the “no pants” trend championed by A-listers is moving into the new season, with a focus on knitwear.
Hemlines are SHORT and best worn with thigh-high boots and a grungy parka. Don’t forget your tights though! Extra points for cold-shoulder or Bardot detailing too.
Striped jumpers and cardigans are making their presence known this season, but think less low-key Parisian and more attention-grabbing patterns. You can opt for multicolours or classic monochrome, but we’re sticking with the latter so we can jump on the print-clashing trend by adding this ditsy floral dress.
Finish your look with an iconic western boot and you’ll have ticked another trend off your list for the day!
All Red, Drop Dead Gorgeous
Bright, powerful red is the colour of the season. Forget your traditionally-autumnal black, greys and browns – for AW17, colour is loud, proud and confidently sexy. With ruffles still leading the way when it comes to detailing; this red, bell sleeve jumper is a great first piece to help you move towards the trend.
If you don’t relish the idea of rocking up to work looking like you’ve strayed away from the Givenchy catwalk – ok we would, but it might be a little brave – try opting for a tonal ensemble.
Different shades of the same colour will also make an appearance this autumn winter. You’ll find the look is particularly stunning when you opt for contrasting fabrics, like velvet, cotton and leather.
Think sexy librarian, and pair your polo neck with an animal-print pencil skirt. The key thing to remember here, is that you should offset the modest silhouette of the polo neck, to make sure you don’t end up looking frumpy. Some khaki mules will add a splash of colour and keep your look very feminine.
